Indian troops target school van along LoC, one martyred

MUZAFFARABAD: A man was killed and at least four children were injured on Friday when Indian troops targeted a school van with mortars in Azad Jammu and Kashmir along the Line of Control (LoC).

According to our correspondent, the incident took place in Nakyal sector of Kotli district where a mortar fired by Indian troops landed near a van carrying children of a private school.

Officials said the van driver, identified as Asad, was injured and later died of his injuries, while four children were wounded.

The injured children are between the age of eight and fifteen years. Those injured were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Kotli.

Tensions between Pakistan and India have been running high following an alleged ‘surgical strike’, unrest in Kashmir and the Uri army base attack in September.

Chief of Army staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa has vowed that any LoC violation will be responded with full force in the most effective manner. He said Indian aggressive posture solely aims to divert attention of the world from atrocities being committed by their troops in Indian occupied Kashmir.
