APS martyrs remembered

To commemorate the 2nd memorial anniversary of APS Peshawar, Peaceful Pakistan, City District Government Lahore (CDGL), in collaboration with The Citizens Foundation, organised an event at The Citizens Foundation School (TCF) Minhala.

The CDGL officials said the students from grades 6 to 8 presented their message of peace and commemorated the martyrdom of APS students through artwork, poems and speeches, which mainly emphasised on the themes inter-faith harmony, coexistence, peace, and anti-terrorism. They said senior officials of CDGL and a team of Peaceful Pakistan engaged the students in dialogue that encouraged peaceful narrative and anti-extremism discourse. The students, among whom some were those from other faith, participated with patriotic zeal and enthusiasm.

The event was followed by a candlelit vigil for the APS martyrs, the officials said, adding Peaceful Pakistan appreciated the efforts of the students by presenting them with souvenirs of Peaceful Pakistan.

Sacrifices: Provincial Minister for Human Rights and Minorities Affairs Khalil Tahir Sandhu in his message on the second anniversary of tragic incident of APS, Peshawer, has said that the sacrifices of the martyred children of Army Public School (APS) would be remembered forever as the terrorist committed worst brutality by killing these innocent students and their teachers on December 16, 2014.

The entire nation and future generations can never forget this heartrending tragedy.

Khalil Tahir Sandhu said that the great sacrifices of the martyred children had provided new courage and determination in the war against terrorism. He said that every Pakistani was grieved over this tragic incident of terrorism. He said that those beasts trying to promote ignorance could not stop the children from getting education through this cowardly act. He said that the innocent children sacrificed their precious lives for the achievement of a great cause. The everlasting sacrifices of these children would not let go waste.

Khalil Tahir Sandhu said that terrorism and extremism would be eliminated and the country be made a haven of peace. He said that challenges of terrorism and extremism would be overcome with the support of the nation. He said, “On this day, we have to renew our determination to maintain this unity in the war against terrorists for which innocent children sacrificed their lives.”
