Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has voiced his support for the China-Pakistan economic corridor during his visit to Pakistan.
Rouhani said during a Saturday press conference that connecting Gwadar port with China by railway will provide a significant boost for the local economy. He hoped that Gwadar port would also be connected with Iranian ports.
Rouhani arrived in Islamabad on Friday for a two-day visit, his first since becoming president. He held talks with Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif separately.
The two sides announced the signing of trade and economic deals and vowed to forge a closer relationship focusing on economic development and shared interests.
