Gwadar’s opening ceremony tomorrow

The opening ceremony of international trade port at Gwadar will be held tomorrow (November 13) amid presence of civil and military leadership of China and Pakistan turning Gwadar as the hub of regional trade and commerce, which is the main objective of China’s Belt and Road Initiative.

Country’s top leadership is likely to see off the Chinese convoy comprising more than 44 containers for Middle East and Africa.

Gwadar Port officials said loading of 300 containers would be completed on Saturday and they would depart from the port the next day for destinations.

Starting official trade under CPEC, truck drivers of the first Chinese convoy moving from Kashgar to Gwadar were welcomed by FWO officials at Quetta.

The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), is a pilot project of One Belt and One Road Initiative proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping that aims to enhance regional connectivity, communication and cooperation.

Experts believe commencement of trade at Gwadar Port under CPEC would become a visible “game changer” for Pakistan and the entire region.
